Service Description

Throwing pottery lessons are designed to get you started and comfortable with the basics of throwing on the wheel. you will work on your own electric potter’s wheel. With lots of 1:1 tuition and assistance. The skills you will learn include Clay preparation and wedging. Setting up your wheel. Centring the clay. Making a cylinder Making a bowl. Making a cup. Including how to make and attach a handle. Turning and finishing your pieces ready for firing. Glazing. Maintaining a clean and safe environment ​ The focus during the course is on learning the technique of throwing. classes are very small so there is plenty of one to one tuition. Your chosen pieces will be bisque fired in the kiln for you after week 6. You will be able to complete your pots with glaze. Your pieces will be fired in the kiln for you and ready to collect in 2-3 weeks after glazing. a small charge is made for each completed pot (approx £2 per pot) Throwing can be very messy, so wear suitable old clothes that you don’t mind getting messy. An apron and an old towel to wipe your hands is recommended.

Cancellation Policy

Bookings for regular classes may be cancelled up to 4 weeks prior to the first scheduled session. After this time a refund of payment minus a £15 admin fee can only be made if the space is filled by another participant so please give us as much notice as possible. Absences can not be made up but we may be able to provide access to the studio for equivalent UNTAUGHT time. Firing & Material Costs Class fees do not include firing costs. These are payable upon collection of your finished work. Work Collection & Storage Completed work will be stored for up to 3 months. After this period, uncollected items will be considered unwanted and disposed of. If you're planning to return for glazing or have any concerns about storing your work, please get in touch so we can make arrangements. Studio Conduct & Safety Classes are suitable for ages 16 and up unless otherwise specified. All participants are expected to help maintain a safe and welcoming studio environment. Please be mindful of others, share space respectfully, and follow any safety instructions provided during your session. If you have any accessibility needs or special requirements, let us know in advance so we can accommodate you.
