FAQ
Are there extra charges?
we do charge for firing pieces made in class based on volume.
Cost per cm³ for Both firings: £0.002
Do I need to bring anything?
An apron or old clothes is advisable and an old towel to wipe your hands this is especially important if you are wheel throwing as this gets messy!
We would also advise that long hair is tied back, and fingernails are kept short it can be quite a challenge to throw a pot with long nails!
The studio is well equipped; therefore, no tools are necessary. However, you are welcome to bring your preferred tools if desired.
When can I collect my work?
Your work needs time to dry before we put it in the kiln and firing takes about 48 hrs. So, from being made, we recommend 2 weeks before booking in to glaze and 1 week between glazing and collecting. If work is being glazed for you, then it is 4 weeks between making and collecting.
I’m not local, can my work be posted?
There is always a risk in posting pottery, but we understand this is sometimes unavoidable. Therefore, if you are unable to collect, we will carefully package up your pottery and send with royal mail tracked delivery. Additional charges apply. Up to 3 standard pots is £7.50 and up to 10 standard pots is £10.
Is there parking?
Parking is available at the rear of the building. Access it through the side gates and follow the drive to the end. Exercise caution, especially for pedestrians when exiting.
Do you hire out your kilns?
Due to our limited firing capacity, firing services are exclusively available for individuals who participate in workshops at the studio. Regular attendees may have occasional home-made pieces fired.
